What it is for
What the Zappi actually does
myenergi build the Zappi in Grimsby, and its whole reason for existing is surplus solar. A clamp on your incoming supply watches the flow, and when the house is exporting, the Zappi diverts that surplus into the car instead of selling it back at a low export rate.
It has three modes. Eco+ charges only on genuine surplus and pauses when a cloud goes over. Eco tops up from the grid to hold a minimum rate. Fast ignores all of it and charges at 7kW like any other unit.

- Homes with battery storage, because the Zappi can be set to work alongside it
- Anyone who wants the charge rate to follow generation rather than the clock

- Houses with no solar. The unit costs more than simpler chargers and the headline feature does nothing
- Commuters whose car is at work all day, where an off-peak tariff saves more than diversion would

Getting one fitted
Zappi installation in Chesterfield and north Derbyshire
The installation is the same whichever unit goes on the wall: a dedicated circuit from your consumer unit, a cable route agreed with you first, then testing and certification. The unit choice changes the hardware cost, not the shape of the job.
You can supply the Zappi yourself and pay for installation only, or have it supplied as part of the job. Say which at enquiry stage, because it changes what gets quoted.

How much does a Zappi cost installed?
Typically £999 to £1,199 fitted, with the unit itself around £550 to £800 depending on version and colour. Your figure depends on the cable run and your consumer unit, as with any charger.
Is a Zappi worth it without solar panels?
Honestly, no. Solar diversion is what you are paying the premium for, and without panels it never activates. A cheaper unit with good tariff integration will serve you better.
Does the Zappi work with a home battery?
Yes, and the priority between battery and car needs setting deliberately, because both compete for the same surplus. Worth thinking through before you buy rather than after.
Zappi or Ohme?
Solar points to the Zappi. A smart tariff with no panels points to the Ohme. If you have both solar and an EV tariff, the Zappi handles the solar side and can still charge in cheap windows.
